2024 Kia Seltos SX

We’ve got another sub compact SUV on deck today! The 2024 Kia Seltos SX is one of the many vehicles on the market that’s role is to replace some of the sedans we've kind of seen go away over the years. Kia is probably the guiltiest for having a lot of SUVs, from the Sportage to the Soul, but the Seltos is the primary focus today. While there are a lot of excellent features in this car, the question as always stands: is it truly family friendly?

2024 Kia Seltos SX Exterior

From an aesthetic standpoint, I think the Seltos is darling; she has a lot of nice features going on. I love how creative Kia has become with materials and we see this in texture or patterns added. It’s nice we're living in a world where just because you get a smaller car doesn't mean you get a boring car.

Moving along to the side, the SX turbo all-wheel drive has an MSRP of about $31,000 and it does have some nice features and looks good, but we are missing some key comfort and convenience features. You can find these on a higher trim level, but for this price I want you to know what you're getting.

Another thing I've seen is that the Seltos has a lot of fun color combinations, including different colored roofs or some different wheels. Overall, I do really like the look of the Kia Seltos and I I think it's well designed and cute. Moving along to the back end, we’ve got kind of a light bar that goes across the back with the new Kia logo. I'm always mixed with the light bar. I think I like it on this car though.

2024 Kia Seltos SX First Row Details

The 2024 Kia Seltos SX has a really comfortable first row. The upgraded trim has a lot of nice comfort features that make the drive really nice. As far as our gas mileage is concerned, you're looking at 27 mph on the highway, 25 mph in the city, which equals 26 mph combined. This is very comparable to the other cars in its class and should be expected for sub compact SUVs.

Infotainment System

This beautiful curved display does not feel like $30,000. It’s giving high-end luxury and I think it looks really good. Kia again has done a very good job introducing some fun materials in here like the piano black and speakers.

As for Kia's infotainment system usability, it's easy and standard across the board, so once you've seen one, you've seen them all, but I like that they still have some of the fun features.

2024 Kia Seltos SX Second Row Details

I brought the Graco SlimFit 3LX, installed rear facing with a seat belt, and have the driver’s seat set for myself at about 6 feet tall. I feel like there’s a little bit more clearance than I had in the Chevrolet Trailblazer, if we're comparing, so that’s a big plus.

As far as the hardware is concerned, you're talking about lower anchors on the outboard seats and then three tether anchors across the back. When considering three car seats across, this most likely will not work. I'm not even going to attempt that middle seat because it is very very small. I think it's very good for two kids and everyone will be comfortable.

I'm so excited because we actually have vents back here. We don't have vents in a car like the Chevy Trailblazer, so the fact that we have vents in the back of the center console and can have some air flow for kids in car seats is excellent.

From an adult perspective sitting in the second row, I'm comfy and have great leg and head clearance. The bench is nice and deep and I've got good leg support. Overall, I feel really really good back here.

2024 Kia Seltos SX Third Row Details

On the SX trim level, there is no power tailgate, which is one of my favorite features for families and a bit of a downside. As for stroller storing in the trunk, it took a bit of finagling to get the Mockingbird to fit in the back. It makes things more difficult, but it’s very similar to the Trailblazer in being wide versus deep.

My car buying tip is if you know you have to carry something in the trunk - bring it to the dealership! It's not weird. When I was selling cars, I had people bring the most outlandish things to try to fit in their trunk, a stroller they're not going to find weird in the slightest.

2024 Kia Seltos SX Wrap Up

I think this is a really good car for smaller families, teen drivers, or for the dog moms out there. It's just one of those good subcompact SUVs and this is a very competitive market, I do think it’s a big power player. What I like about the Kia Seltos the most is it's stylish on both the inside and the outside. Compared to other cars in this class, the second row has really good amenities with the addition of those vents because truly a lot of vehicles of this size do not offer that.
