2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS
Today I’ve got a really requested smaller vehicle on deck! The industry is really moving away from sedans and it’s becoming one per manufacturer, so they are replacing a lot of those smaller cars with some subcompact SUVs like this 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer. There are so many things to love about this vehicle, but is it right for your family?

2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS Exterior
The 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS all-wheel drive tops out at about $34,000 which is on the higher end for the Trailblazers, but you get a lot of nice features included. This one has some really good packages that give you those nice tech and comfort features. The main benefit of a small car is it's going to be pretty fuel efficient, so you're talking about 26 mph in the city, 29 mph on the highway, for 27 mph combined.
Looking at the exterior, I like Chevy's RS trim. They do some fun sporty things to it such as faux carbon fiber and a blacked out Chevy logo. I would say this is actually one of the more stylish sub compact SUVs, I'm very much comparing this to the Kia Seltos, which I also think is incredibly stylish, so just because you're getting a small SUV doesn't mean you're not getting a car that has some nice look to it.
Moving along to the side profile, I love when small SUVs do a two-tone roof. I think it just makes the car look very fun and sporty - we even have blacked out mirror caps on the 19in wheels, which have a great look.
Finally looking at the back end, we have some wraparound tail lights and a sloped roof. More carbon fiber to match the front and make a very stylish sub compact SUV. I think this car is great for families looking to stay in a smaller sized vehicle and could also make a great car for first-time teen drivers.
2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS First Row Details
Okay let's take a look at some of the features in the interior of the Chevy Trailblazer. Overall, I really like it. With the package added, we're going to have wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof, plus heated seats and a heated steering wheel so I mean she's checking a lot of the boxes. It’s comfortable and is exactly what you’d expect with a $34,000 price point.
I did make a promise to show you all different features that are really great for teen drivers. First of all you can tailor to the specific key, so if you're sharing a car with a teen it's very easy to change the settings based on which key you were using. There is also a report card available, which gives such helpful information like how many times they went over their speed warning or how many times the automatic emergency braking went off. I think this is such a good tool to teach teens really how to drive and improve in their first few years.
Infotainment System
You guys - we’ve got an 8in dash and 11in screen. That's a lot of technology coming at you, especially for a vehicle of this size and price range. This is a very impressive infotainment system and I've said this before in the newer Chevy cars, this infotainment system is it. It's responsive, looks good, and is simple but effective. I was also very impressed to find out that this has wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, plus a Wi-Fi hotspot.
2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS Second Row Details
As far as car seat hardware is concerned, you have lower anchors on the outboard seats and tether anchors across the back. I have a Graco Slim Fit 3LX installed with the seat belt and with the front seat set for myself, at about 6 feet tall, I've got a little clearance. I mean it's a small car. I don't have a ton of inches, so if you're much taller than 6 feet behind a rear facing car seat - things are going to be tight.
For a passenger, there is good head clearance and good knee clearance. There is a deep wide bench, so I feel like I have some good leg support. We have USB and USB-C in the back, along with a panoramic sunroof that I can send back a little bit more and lets a lot of nice natural light. No vents back here, which isn't uncommon for cars of this size, but of course it's a little unfortunate for kids in car seats.
A fun feature in the second row is that you can actually lay the passenger seats completely flat, so this car can actually carry quite a bit of cargo. Overall, I’m very happy with the second row in this smaller vehicle.
2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS Trunk Details
In the trunk, we do have a power tailgate on this trim level, which is always exciting. I tested the trunk space using a Mockingbird stroller that fits okay. The problem that you run into, although this trunk is kind of wide, it's not very deep so it’s just something to keep in mind.
Underneath, we're met with our spare tire and I wish it was a little deeper. With the seats folded down, you’re able to use the space very well, so if you don't have a ton of car seats the space is great.
2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer RS Wrap Up
Overall, I think the 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer is an excellent option to consider if you’re in the market for a smaller SUV that’s affordable and looks great. Although the second row may not be suitable for three car seats across, I still recommend giving it a test-drive to see if it could work in that situation. For the tech and fuel efficiency alone, this is an excellent vehicle.
