Must Have Features In Your Next Mom Car
New cars have so much amazing technology! I am constantly blown away by what these manufacturers come out with year after year. I drive demo cars for my family’s dealership which means I get a brand new car every 4,000-5,000 miles. So since I was 16 years old I’ve been in brand new cars and I’ve seen the amazing progression of features in new cars throughout the years.
Today, new cars are great because there are so many awesome features such as bluetooth, backup camera, apple car play, etc. BUT there a few great, non standard features I couldn’t live without as a mom. I want to share my favorite, not standard features I think moms should consider!

Car Mom MUST HAVE Features
There are certain features that I can no longer live without when it comes to picking cars for my family! Here’s the list:
Crash Prevention Features
Crash prevention technology is absolutely amazing. Of course, crash ratings are so important but I would argue equally as important is the technology to prevent a crash from happening in the first place. As moms we are going to get distracted while driving, it’s inevitable. Having blind spot alerts or oncoming/rear traffic braking systems in my car gives me such peace of mind that if I do get distracted my car will alert me through sound or vibration that I may be coming onto a collision. Crash prevention features are an absolute MUST HAVE for family vehicles.
Sliding Minivan Doors
Now, I’m not a minivan mom (yet) but you can’t argue that sliding doors aren’t a total game changer for moms. Sliding doors make loading your kids easier, prevents your child from slamming the door into the car next to you or getting their fingers jammed. There’s a reason minivans are great mom cars and sliding doors is one of them.
Sunshades
Built-in sunshades are amazing for those summer months and kiddos in the backseat! They keep your car cool and keep the sun out of your kid’s eyes. I always prefer built-in sunshades over after market shades. I just find they work better overall.
Ceiling Vents
Speaking of keeping your kids cool, ceiling vents are the necessary feature I didn’t know I needed until having kids! They are especially great for family’s with rear facing kids. Vents on the center console or side don’t cool your rear facing kids down in the way ceiling vents do.
Keyless Entry
Keyless entry, another game changer for moms. I literally NEVER know where my keys are. Between my purse, diaper bag, coat, work bag and whatever other bag I’m lugging around I have no clue where they are. BUT with keyless entry I don’t need to know. Keyless entry allows you to lock/unlock your car by touching the handle as long as your keys are somewhere on you. This saves SO much time!
Power Tailgate
Finally, maybe my favorite feature (outside of the crash prevention features) POWER TAILGATE. Power tailgate offers a quick click and release button on your trunk that automatically lifts your trunk once pushed. You can also close your trunk via button!
