Dad-Friendly Family Cars | My Top 5 Recommendations!

As The Car Mom I look at cars from the perspective of a mom and a woman, but we can’t forget about the dads! I love sharing my opinion and perspective on family cars. However, a "mom car" isn't the only family car. It is also vitally important a dad car works for your family as well. I recently got a comment asking for the top dad cars that will still make men feel manly while also being a safe and carseat friendly vehicle. I thought this was a fantastic idea and started brainstorming! Just as moms shouldn't have to compromise on style for their cars, I believe dads should get to feel manly and empowered in their cars too! Let’s get started with my top 5 recommended dad-friendly family cars.

Top 5 Manly Family Cars for Dads

  1. Audi Q7

Audi Q7

MSRP starting at $54,950

Horspower: 248 hp

The Audi Q7 screams sporty and it drives amazing! It comes in so many great trim levels and additional sporty add-ons that you can get to make is extra manly. It's got an MSRP starting at 54,000, 248 horsepower and it can tow up to 4,400 pounds. Don’t let this car fool you because it is also great for car seats! The bench in the Audi is super wide and it's very flexible to fit multiple kids in car seats. The Audi Q7 is overall a beautiful looking car that gives you both sporty and family friendly, perfect for dads!

2. Ram 1500

Ram 1500

MSRP starting at $33,225

Horspower: 260 to 702 hp

Towing: 6,150 to 8,290 lbs

The second car on my list is the Ram 1500 crew cab, but really any full-size truck is actually awesome for car seats! In fact, I actually know a lot of moms who ended up going to buy a truck as their mom car because you just can't beat the trunk space. The benches and trucks are so wide and very deep, you will have no problem fitting multiple rear-facing or forward-facing car seats! However, when you are truck shopping make sure you're looking for the full four-door. All the trucks have a four-door option, but make sure you're getting the full size and the full-size cab and not just the extended or quad cab. Trucks are great for car seats and an excellent option for a family friendly car for both moms and dads!

3. Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan Pathfinder

MSRP starting at $33,410

Horspower: 284 hp

Towing: 3,500 to 6,000 lbs

Number three on the list is the brand new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder! I literally just got done touring it and that thing screams sass. Now you guys don't want to probably be called sassy but it's very sporty and very rugged. It's got roof rails and is very manly and masculine. Surprisingly, it was really good for kids and it had a lot of car seat flexibility. It had tether anchors in all six seating positions, sun shades, and a car seat friendly tilt. I could still fit a stroller with the third row up and it’s a pretty good looking car overall. The Pathfinder has an MSRP starting at 33,400, it can tow up to 6,000 pounds and it has 284 horsepower so super sassy sporty vehicle that any dad would enjoy!

4. Ford Expedition

Ford Expedition

MSRP starting at $49,625

Horspower: 375 to 400 hp

Towing: 5,900 to 6,000 lbs

The next car on my list is probably one of my favorites for a mom or a dad! Let me tell you something… the Ford Expedition, it smacks! First of all, it basically looks like a truck and it kind of drives like a truck too. If you like that kind of drive, then the Ford Expedition might be a great option for you. It has such a wide bench, so much car seat flexibility, a car seat friendly tilt, headrests in all of the seats, lower anchors in the third row, and a car seat hauler. The best part is that it won't make you feel like you're driving a minivan but it has very similar features and space options. Overall, there’s a reason my family and I also go back to the Ford Expedition and my husband loves this car as much as I do!

5. GMC Yukon

GMC Yukon

MSRP starting at $51,000

Horspower: 277 to 420 hp

Towing: 7,500 to 7,900 lbs

The last one on my list is the GMC Yukon! This is a tried and true family car that I know fathers all across the country love. The Yukon is a giant family hauler that can tow a lot, it drives great, it's huge and I think it's also a great option for kids! This is about one of the largest cars on the market that you can get that has so much trunk and seat space. If a dad doesn’t feel manly in this powerhouse car I would be shocked!
