2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Review | The Ultimate Cool Dad Car
I’ve got a different kind of family car on deck today! The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe is what I am calling the cool dad or grandpa car – it’s stylish, fast, but also surprisingly family-friendly. While I do not consider this on the same playing field as a lot of the three-row haulers I review, I wanted to show that cars like these can still work for families with occasional car seat install needs or those with older kids.
If you’re new here – welcome! I’m Kelly the Car Mom and as a CPST, mom of four, and car lover in general, I have been waiting to do this car tour for a long time. By the end of this post, you’ll understand every row of the Genesis GV80 Coupe, but more importantly, if it could work for your family.

2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Highlights:
The GV80 Coupe design looks just like a Bentley. It’s really sleek and cool-looking.
If powerful engines are your thing, the GV80 has it.
The interior is pure lux! The red seatbelts, nice leather seats, and tech are all top-tier. You even get ambiance settings.
The second row is surprisingly family-friendly! It offers heated seats, LATCH anchors for car seats, and plenty of room despite the sloping roofline.
2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Exterior
At first glance, the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe looks like it just rolled out of a luxury car magazine. With its sleek, coupe-like design and bold front grille, it’s hard not to compare it to a Bentley. The sloping roofline gives it a sporty, aggressive stance that stands out from the typical family SUV but is obviously not the biggest in size.
The large 22-inch wheels, sharp lines, and signature Genesis crest grille give it an upscale vibe And those red seat belts? They’re a fun touch that adds a bit of flair to an already stunning design. This is definitely not your average family SUV and would turn heads in the carpool line that’s for sure.
Engine Options
If a powerful engine is one of your must-haves in a car, the Genesis GV80 Coupe has got you covered. There are two engine options available:
375-hp Twin-Turbo V6: This engine is quick and smooth, perfect for everyday driving with enough power to make highway merging and passing easy.
409-hp Twin-Turbo V6 with Electric Supercharger: If you want even more speed, this version adds an electric supercharger for faster acceleration, especially at lower speeds. It’s ideal if you love that extra "oomph" when you hit the gas.
Both engines come with all-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic transmission as well. While this is not my complete forte, I can attest the drive was really smooth and I could accelerate to merge on the freeway with zero issues.
Price
The 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe starts at $81,300 and can go up to $87,100 depending on the trim and options you choose. While it’s more expensive than the standard GV80 SUV, which starts at around $59,050, the Coupe offers a sportier design and more powerful engine options. It’s a luxury SUV for sure.
2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe First Row
The GV80 Coupe’s interior is designed for comfort. The quilted Nappa leather seats are both heated and ventilated, and they even offer a massage function for long drives. There’s plenty of space up front, with good headroom despite the sloping roofline.
The seats are highly adjustable, making it easy to find a comfortable driving position. With the price tag attached, I’d expect nothing less than a great first row and I think Genesis really delivered.
For a smaller car, there is a decent amount of storage available. You get cupholders in the center console, door pockets for smaller items, and an overhead console for things like sunglasses. Nothing too crazy, but enough to feel comfortable.
Infotainment System
The tech inside the GV80 Coupe is nothing short of impressive. The centerpiece is a massive 27-inch screen that stretches across most of the dashboard. It’s bright, responsive, and easy to use.
The infotainment system comes equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (though some models may require an update for wireless functionality). You can also customize different user profiles for each driver, making it easy to switch between settings like seat position, climate control preferences, and even favorite playlists.
One unique feature is the Mood Curator, which lets you set different cabin atmospheres depending on your mood. It’s a fun touch we are starting to see in a lot of luxury cars.
Genesis also includes a digital rearview mirror—a game-changer when you’ve got cargo, passengers, or car seats blocking your view out back. It ensures you always have a clear line of sight behind you.
2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Second Row
Despite its coupe-like design, the second row in the GV80 Coupe offers plenty of room for passengers. The sloping roofline doesn’t impact headroom as much as you might expect—there’s still enough space for taller passengers to sit comfortably without feeling cramped. The second-row seats are also heated (a nice touch for cold mornings), and there are USB-C ports available so everyone can keep their devices charged on long trips.
As for car seat installation purposes, I was pleasantly surprised to see how family-friendly it is. The GV80 Coupe comes equipped with two sets of LATCH anchors in the outboard seats, and tethers across the back. I tested my Graco Extend2Fit car seat behind the driver’s seat and was pleasantly surprised by how much room there was—no need to compromise front-row legroom.

2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe Trunk
One of the biggest surprises about the GV80 Coupe is how much cargo space it offers despite its coupe-like design. You lose about three cubic feet compared to the regular GV80 SUV, but there’s still plenty of room for a grocery haul, gear, and potentially even a stroller.
The trunk floor is flat and easy to load items into, and there’s even some additional storage space underneath for smaller items like emergency kits or blankets. If you need more room, the second-row seats fold down easily to expand your cargo capacity further.
Who Is This Car For?
So who is this car really designed for? It’s perfect for dads who want something stylish yet functional or even cool grandparents who want to drive something that stands out from the crowd. If you have two older kids who need more space than what most sedans offer but don’t want to drive around in a giant SUV anymore—this is your car.
2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe: Wrap-Up
Overall, I was very impressed by the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe! It looks like a Bentley but is surprisingly family-friendly for those who need to use one car seat or with older kids. While the price point definitely classifies it as a luxury SUV, I was very impressed with my overall experience with it.
