2024 GMC Acadia
Today is a car tour that has been on my calendar for MONTHS! The 2024 GMC Acadia is one of my most anticipated car launches for two years now and it’s all because of the new redesign it desperately needed. While I can fully say the third generation Acadia is leaps and bounds better than the first, is it Car Mom approved?
By the end of this post, you’ll understand all the features the 2024 GMC Acadia has to offer and see how it ranks against other modern mid-size SUVs on the market.
Before you dive in and start car shopping, make sure you’re fully prepared to tackle today’s market with confidence. To learn everything from dealership prep to a complete negotiations strategy, check out my Car Buying Course!
A Brief History On GMC’s Acadia Design
The 2024 is the third generation of the GMC Acadia. You may be wondering, why is a third generation necessary? Let me tell you, it was much needed for all the family drivers out there.
The first generation was a nice and large mid-size SUV that so many of us want when it comes to planning for our growing family. Then, the second generation came along and GMC reduced the size significantly. Now, the third generation is back to its almost full-size roots and I could not be more excited!
2024 GMC Acadia Exterior
The 2024 GMC Acadia is available in four different trim levels and I get the pleasure of touring you through their cream of the crop, highest level: the Denali. It is absolutely stunning. Although this is a complete vehicle redesign, the front grill still resembles that classic GMC look. I personally think it has a bit of their Sierra detailing in it, but all the chrome gives it a more masculine edge.
The lines on this car are absolutely stunning and provide a seamless transition when taking a 360 degree view of the front, side, and back of the vehicle. What steals the show the most is the really thick and meaty tires on the Acadia Denali- measuring in at 22 inches.
Of all the mid-size vehicles I’ve walked through, the GMC Acadia may be one of the largest. Think similar in size to a Palisade or Traverse. This car is an excellent benchmark for families trying to decide between the mid-size or full-size market.
This is truly such a beautiful car on the exterior, but the interior is where a lot of the redesign is seen.
2024 GMC Acadia First Row Details
I cannot get over the interior of this vehicle! If this is an indication of what the rest of the new GMC lineup looks like, I am incredibly impressed. It has always felt like GMC didn't have the fit and finishes and design elements we see on some of the Korean and Japanese cars, but I feel differently about this Acadia.
The first row has best-in-class legroom and feels like a very spacious vehicle. For those fellow taller drivers, this is a great vehicle to consider. The storage in the Acadia is great and I’m always a fan of four cup holders within a driver’s reach.
Driver Seat Door Panel
I don’t know what to say about the door panel except it’s incredibly well-designed. The styling elements in here are insane. There’s a fantastic wood trim, ambient lighting, chrome details, stitching details, and even the speakers are well designed. Needless to say, it’s everything you could want in a driver seat door panel.
Infotainment System
What I really like about the way GMC arranged the trim levels is regardless of what option you choose, the screens come standard. There is both an 11 inch dash and a 15 inch screen completing what I think is a stunning infotainment set up.The interior technology available is where the trim levels start to differ.
Here are some of the 2024 GMC Acadia Denali tech highlights:

Seat belt sensors
As for the screen itself, it does look like an iPad. Although this is not my favorite look, it does feel more integrated with the overall vehicle than other competitors on the market. All of the favorites (Apple Carplay, Android Auto, etc…) come included and that’s just the start. I mean, there’s an ambient lighting feature!
2024 GMC Acadia Second Row Details
Let’s start off with a bang- the Acadia now includes a car seat friendly tilt in their second row! For those that don’t know, this feature allows for third row access while still keeping a car seat installed (via lower tethers) in the second row. For families with three or more kids, this is an absolute essential feature.
Just like the first row, the 2024 GMC Acadia has a best-in-class second row, meaning there is a ton of space available. Both captain’s chairs and bench seating are available to choose from. To help weigh out your options, read my post debating the two here!
Since the Acadia is overall larger, the width of the second row is wider as well. This allows for an easier aisle to the third row (if you choose captain’s chairs) or more room to try three across car seat combinations (if you choose bench seating).
2024 GMC Acadia Third Row Details
The third row space is not horrible. Is it an everyday comfortable seat for an adult? No. Is it a better third row than many of the options in its class? Absolutely. As for third row amenities, it’s very similar to the second row. Lots of great ventilation, USB-C ports, and cup holders.
If you’ve been around for a while, you’ve heard me discuss my bone to pick with General Motors about their lack of a third row middle restraint. Finally, they have included it!
2024 GMC Acadia Trunk Details
Let me start off by saying the new Acadia’s trunk is 80% bigger than its second generation! Yes, you read that right. There is some serious trunk space available, even with the third row up.
Although I didn’t have a stroller with me, I’m confident many of the popular models on the market will fit with ease. Last but not least, there is a power folding second and third row available.
2024 GMC Acadia Wrap Up
With being one of the most anticipated releases in years, the 2024 GMC Acadia did not disappoint. As one of the largest mid-size SUVs on the market, it’s a great beginning vehicle to look at when trying to decide how much space you truly need. As for my overall opinion, I think this vehicle is an absolute slam dunk and perfect for a ton of families.
