2024 Lexus TX
Today is a car tour I’ve really put to the test. I’ve been driving the 2024 Lexus TX for over a week now, so I have a lot of thoughts to share with you all. As always, the question remains: is this vehicle family-friendly?
If you’re new here - welcome! I’m Kelly the Car Mom and I wear a lot of hats. As a Certified Child Safety Tech, mom of three, and car fanatic, I cannot wait to walk you through all the features of this brand new Lexus.

2024 Lexus TX Exterior
The TX is a brand new model from the Lexus lineup and honestly, it was so needed. Lexus had the RX the RXL, they have a GX and LX, but they didn't have a really competitive midsize 30 SUV until now. Consider this in the same platform as the Grand Highlander, these cars have a lot in common.
The TX I’m walking you through today is in the 350 luxury trim level and comes in a hybrid option as well. Overall, the exterior is not my favorite. While that’s not the primary reason to not buy a vehicle, there are a lot of other exteriors in this class I prefer. I do love the chrome detailing throughout and freshness of the vehicle.
2024 Lexus TX First Row Details
This TX specifically has an MSRP of about $69,000, but what's kind of interesting about the TX vs Grand Highlander debate is depending on which one you get and how you get it equipped, they're actually pretty comparable in pricing. From the look of the interior alone (no other factors included) I would choose a base TX over a loaded Grand Highlander.
One thing specifically I've really been enjoying about this car is the heated seats and the heated steering wheel because they actually work with your air temperature to deliver the optimal comfort experience. Basically, if you have your temperature set to a certain degree your heated seats may/may not kick on which I've found to be pretty helpful.
Infotainment System
There are so many features to break down in this car. Lexus's infotainment system and their technology has felt so outdated for so long, but now I finally feel like I'm in a luxury car. We're going to start with a heads up display. Amazing digital dash and a huge infotainment system that I have found to be very user-friendly and responsive.
I've also been really impressed with the driver's assistance features, specifically the crash prevention tech. This car alerts you if you look away from the road for too long with a pop up on the dash. We also have a rear view camera, which I love especially for having kids in car seats that can obstruct your view. Of course, Apple Carplay and Android Auto - all of those good things.
2024 Lexus TX Second Row Details
Let's start breaking down the car seat set up in the second row. The TX comes with a bench and captain's chairs, so to see what option would work best for your family, click here. I have the captain's chairs today, and brought three random car seats to truly test out what this second row has to offer.
Specifically, I want to talk about car seat clearance because the TX does not have the most room in the second row. I’ve had a really hard time, as a taller driver, with two rear-facing car seats. As a family who has to regularly use the third row, there’s just not enough space for rear-facing car seats. Unfortunately, this means despite everything I love about the interior of the TX, it would never work for my family.
As for the amenities in the second row, here is a list of the top features:
Although car seat room is not great, leg room is excellent
Ceiling vents
Sun shades
Heated + ventilated seats
Climate control settings
USB-C ports
Removable headrests (absolutely necessary for third-row car seat installs)
2024 Lexus TX Third Row Details
I know I’ve been comparing the Toyota Grand Highlander and TX quite a bit, but the third row is where I start to prefer the TX a lot more. They only put two seats in the third row! This means you have two really good seats in the third row with their own sets of lower and tether anchors. In the Grand Highlander, there are three seats in the third row meaning you’re dealing with smaller seats and a lack of anchors.
To actually get into the third row, we’ve got a nice Tilt and Slide and you’re left with a wide aisle. Thank you Lexus for not making me sit on a buckle in the third row. I hate third row middle seats! I'm sorry, but unless you're an Expedition, a third row middle seat should not exist. I’m quite comfortable as a passenger and my four-year-old son in his car seat was comfortable too.
Funny thing to note, I had to use duct tape and cardboard over the power recline so my son wouldn’t have a hey-day with it. It worked well, since I could not figure out how to turn it off.
2024 Lexus TX Trunk Details
Lastly, let’s take a look at the trunk space because it's really good. For a midsize vehicle, the TX has got a lot more space than its competitors. No real storage underneath, just things like a cargo cover and a jack, but I'm incredibly impressed. The seats are powered and will lay completely flat, which is also very impressive.
2024 Lexus TX Wrap Up
Overall, I think this 2024 Lexus TX is definitely worth a test drive for your family. I love the interior, along with the first row, third row, and trunk space. While the second row is disappointing with a family of three with all the kids in car seats, I always say to thoroughly look at it yourself before making your final decision.
