2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L
I’ve got a hauler on deck today! The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L. If this car couldn’t be big enough, the L version means an extended wheelbase- so I’ve got even more ground to cover. While this vehicle definitely has the space, is it family-friendly?
If you’re new here - welcome! I’m Kelly the Car Mom and as a CPST, mom of three, and overall car lover, I can’t wait to walk you through all the features of the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L. Above all, let’s see if this vehicle could be a fit for your family.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Exterior
I’ve toured my fair share of Wagoneers. They always look nice, but this front end grill is really something to talk about. The chrome elements throughout this vehicle are stunning and really helps the front of the car stand out combined with their 7 grate grill.
Looking at the sides, the curved windows are definitely different. I appreciate Jeep trying something new, and the vehicle overall still looks stylish, but with the extended base it feels like a school bus to me.
When it comes to cost, the Grand Wagoneers come in at around $100,000. This is an expensive family vehicle. That being said, there’s a lot of great aspects of the interior I want to walk you through.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L First Row
Before I go any further… let’s talk about the butterscotch leather interior. I absolutely love the color of it. With the all-black contrast it’s stunning. What I find so interesting is how big of a jump this is for Jeep, I mean they still make cars with crank windows.
With the front row, it has everything you want for a comfortable driving experience, but I really wanted to highlight the center console with a cool box. If you ever pack a lunch or need to bring breast milk with you, it’s a really convenient addition.
Infotainment System
The Grand Wagoneer has all the tech you’d expect in a luxury full-size vehicle for this price tag. This vehicle is meant to compete with the Escalade, so they have thrown everything but the kitchen sink in here, tech-wise. I’ll be honest, I do like the infotainment system, but think it needs some fine tuning.
This is not the first time I’ve had glitches with the Grand Wagoneer tech, I cannot get the passenger screen to turn on. With all the tech working fine, it’s great and a really safe driving experience.
The best feature I wanted to highlight is the second and third row cameras that allow you to look in the back row. I’ve seen this in the Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival, so I love that a full-size SUV put it in here. It really feels like they’re trying to design a vehicle specifically for families.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Second Row
Amenities in the second row include:
Built-in sun shades
Mini Fire TV screens
Leather back pockets
Climate controls (but no ceiling vents unfortunately)
Let’s break down this second row because this is truly a make-or-break for family vehicles. The Grand Wagoneer does come in both captain’s chairs or bench seating options, but honestly the bench seat is quite good. It reminds me a lot of the Ford Expedition with three separate seats making up the bench itself - this is always the best option for three car seats across.
Today, I have the captain’s chairs with a built-in console, which is difficult, so I want to walk through some ways to still make this second row workable for families. As far as car seat set up is concerned, we have lower and tether anchors in each separate chair. When trying the Clek Liing, a rear-facing seat, it was quite difficult. There is a screen attached to the back of the first row, making the clearance even worse. This is why I HIGHLY recommend bringing your car seats with you to the dealership.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Third Row
Amenities in the third row include:
Reclining seats
USB-C ports
Vents (although they are small)
Cupholders
To get into the third row, we have my favorite: the car seat friendly tilt. Being in the third row, there are some highs and some lows. Starting with the high, we’ve got a middle head restraint, which a lot of vehicles in this class do not include. Another huge perk: we have one set of lower anchors along with three sets of tether anchors. I’d love a second set of lower anchors, but I’m not complaining.
Although I’m happy to see a headrest, the two on the outboard seats are not removable and the shape of them can make it difficult to install car seats. I tried several car seats back here and was not successful, except the Graco SlimFit 3LX. This car seat never lets me down.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Trunk
This trunk space is really comparable to the Yukon XL, which has been a top contender for the best vehicle trunk space for quite some time. No extra storage underneath, but you don’t need it for the size you have available. The third row seats power fold and I have absolutely no complaints.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L: Wrap Up
Overall, I think the Grand Wagoneer is a vehicle designed with families in mind. That being said, there are a lot of frustrations with the car seat set up that make it hard to strongly recommend any car seat on the market. I love the trunk space and cooling box in the first row, but the tech glitches are frustrating. If you’re in the market for a full-size SUV, I recommend a test-drive, but bring your car seats with you.
