4 Easy Ways to Prep for the Dealership

The car buying process can be intimidating and daunting. There is so much that goes into it, you could easily take a whole course on it… in fact, I’ve created some courses on it :) To better prepare you for the dealership, here are some easy ways you can be more prepared!

  1. Come early in the morning and on a weekday.

If possible, I recommend going to the dealership first thing on a weekday. Weekday mornings are usually when the dealership is the least busy which will mean less wait times for you.

  2. Choose your salesperson ahead of time.

Do your research and choose a salesperson ahead of time! Check out DealerRater, here you will find reviews of dealerships AND individual salespeople. Put yourself in control of your car buying experience by choosing a highly rated salesperson! ALSO be sure to make an appointment with that salesperson (the good ones likely work mostly by appointment).

  3. Go on a clear sunny day.

If shopping for preowned vehicles, I suggest trying to go on a clear, sunny day. Rain and snow can hide minor dents and dings. By going on a clear day you are able to give the car a good inspection.

  4. Give yourself enough time.

Car buying takes time. So it’s good to have a realistic idea of how long you will be there. If you are just test driving I recommend an hour. If you are test driving and intend to buy, give yourself at least 3 hours.
